Taking a Time-Out! -Updated-
I’m tired of having conversation after conversation with my bf about my needs not being met and him not even trying a little bit. It’s been months of me bringing it up and nothing ever changes. I don’t ask for much, just little efforts here and there to show me that I’m loved and important. This could be sending me a cute couple’s meme, a FaceTime call on a day that we can’t see each other in person (we usually only see each other 1-2x a week for a few hours), him planning an activity or a date for us in advance, or just any kind of small gesture that lets me know that he’s thinking about me. Again, I’m not asking for much. I do these things for him all the damn time and the effort is never reciprocated. I’ve driven him to school, I pick him up & drop him off when we make plans, I planned a nice bday party for him, I send him cute messages, I gave his mom flowers on Mother’s Day, I went to his 3 y/o cousin’s bday party with his parents, I go to his soccer games... I do anything and everything for him.
I told him that I am taking a few days as a time-out from him. Maybe my absence, however brief it might be, will make him understand and realize how much it hurts me to not feel heard and to not see any change.
He’s 26 years old and needs to start acting like he gives a damn about how I feel. Stop telling me how sorry you are and start showing me with your actions!
Its 3:30pm on Day 1 of this time-out and every hour is a struggle because I miss him and I keep wondering if he misses me. Love has its tough moments, but love is not a prize for me to earn based on “good behaviour”. I love him so much but I need to start feeling like I’m being loved too.
-end of rant-
Update:
Time-out is over.
We had a nice talk & some good sex.
Sometimes a little space is all it takes.
