Do I get a w2 if I didn’t work in 2020?
Not sure is anyone would know the answer to this
I didn’t work at all in 2020, but I did receive payments from my previous employer.
My daughter was born in November 2019. I was receiving payments from a 3rd party for my maternity leave. Then I got laid off in February and I received a lump severance package.
I was assuming since I got a severance package from my employer I would get a w2. And also, I remember when my son was born I am almost positive the payments I got from the 3rd party were on the w2 (but I could be wrong)
So I call HR, the girl I spoke with told me to check the employee portal. So I did and there’s no w2. I call back and her response was “well I guess you don’t get one”
I’m hoping maybe its just not available yet? I really couldn’t get a straight answer, so I’m wondering, does anyone know? I really think I should be getting one, it doesn’t make sense if I don’t
