Return to full time work

My son will be 2 in May, and I’m getting ready to go back to work full time.

My maternity leave lasted for 14 weeks (I was extremely lucky in that), and I went back to work part time after that, working 4 hour shifts in the evening while my husband was with our son. After that, I worked every day for a few hours in the middle of the day, while my mother in law watched him. Now I only work 2 evenings a week, the rest of the time I help take care of my husbands grandfather, but my son comes with me.

We’re at a point now where I have to go back to work full time. We are going to have a mortgage soon, and my husband and I both need health insurance.

I am so stressed about the transition, for myself and my son. He’s good around other kids, but he’s never been in a daycare setting before. I’m also worried about the stress of only seeing him for a couple hours a day, and even that time will be spent cooking/eating dinner and getting ready for bed.

How do you handle it? How do you fit time in, not only with your child but just getting basic household things done?
