How to hold off baby fever???

I want a child sooo bad, my husband and I just got married a couple months ago and agreed we would wait at least a year so we could be in a better financial situation. We definitely aren’t broke or anything but would like to have a good amount saved up first because kids are EXPENSIVE. He has a daughter from his last relationship and I love her so much but her mom refuses to “allow” me to have any alone time with her (like even just a girls day to hang out), even though they have a court ordered schedule just because she doesn’t like me. His visitation starts while he’s at work so I have to pick her up but his ex has been so difficult since we got engaged and it’s way worse now that we’re married🙄 (yes lawyers are involved) I also want to wait a while so she doesn’t think we’re trying to replace her, every time we call her she says she misses us and wishes she could come over😢 I try to remind myself that we’ll be in a way better situation if we save up first but I just want a baby now😭 doesn’t help that he works out of town during the week and now that his ex won’t let the little one come over, I’m always home alone
