Sterilization?

Have you had your tubes tied or partner had a vasectomy? Were there any side effects that made you wish you hadn’t done it? We are leaning towards the vasectomy after babe is born, but his aunt was a vasectomy baby TEN years after the fact😱 Just trying to weigh our options!

I got a tubal. Honesty mostly because insurance covered it. But I haven’t had any bad side effects from it. Periods are heavier than they used to be but not painful or anything. And really I can’t even say if that’s from the tubal or if it’s just from having 2 kids because apparently your periods can change after having baby’s. Everyone is different though 2 of best friends got theirs done and it made their periods shorter and lighter. Another woman I know said it made hers terrible so I guess it’s kind of a gamble.

If they do their follow up appt after the V for a sperm count, surprise babies shouldn’t happen.  SO got a V not long ago and it was an easy process.  He was just mad he couldn’t work out for the day lol.  We got pregnant 2 days before his V though 😬😬😬 we were using protection even.  So I’m very happy he’s had it done so there won’t be any future surprises

I agreed to have my tubes tied my mom did 25 years ago with no issues but because he had an aunt that had it 35 years ago and it didn't work he was against it so he got a vasectomy. It's a personal choice the recovery time on the vasectomy was only a week.

A tubal is a far more serious and intensive surgery. If its between one or the other, a vasectomy is the safer medical choice. (Also, you grew a human... my argument is always ‘well, i took bc for 15 years, grew you a person, then fed him with my body for a year... i feel like this is the least you can do.’)

My husband experience post vasectomy pain syndrome for 2 years after the procedure. It is definitely a regret of ours. Unfortunately not many men report it so there's not a lot of info about the risks out there.

Husband had a vasectomy a few months ago. The procedure is not what it was decades ago. They don’t just cut the tube, they cut out a section and then cauterize it. There’s a 1 in 5,000 chance of conceiving a child after a vasectomy.

I had my tubes time it made my periods awful! I was in so much pain every month! And would bleed super bad. After dealing with it for a few years I ended up going back and having a reversal and have been fine ever since. I do not recommend it.
