Do you have to give baby food

Question

I’m curious to know If baby food has to be given? Can you just bottle feed and give fruit her and there and little baby snacks?
Edit: let me add she won’t eat the baby food I’ve try all the flavors and oatmeal since 6 months she is now 7 months and will only try regular food.

Baby snacks really aren’t nutritious.  If you don’t want to do purées, look into baby led weaning.  Just throwing a snack at her once in a while really isnt the proper way to start solids though

We skipped baby foods. Started BLW where baby eats what you eat (cut properly) at 6 months. We loved it.

My Bub is still breastfeeding, but my plan is to have milk be primary nutrition for a year, but at 6 months offer food if she’s showing interest and her body is showing signs it’s ready for food. I’m not going to bother with purées and go straight to soft foods. 
If she doesn’t want to eat a whole plate or just smashes peas onto her face then no biggie, because her nutrition is taken care of with milk still. That way food is a fun, relaxed thing and once she’s eating consistently and regularly I expect eventually she’ll lose interest in breastfeeding as often. 
(That’s the plan... if my daughters birth was anything to go by, the plan could be thrown out the window later)

I watched a pair of twin boys. When they turned 7 months we just started giving them real food with no issues. They never even went to baby food. Crackers, string cheese, lunch meat, raisins etc... We just put it on their trays and they picked it up and ate it. 
I'll be doing the same thing with my children, it's not worth it to buy baby food.

If she only wants to try regular food, absolutely go with it! But then I'm probably biased because I didn't start offering it early enough & now my almost 3 year old is the worst eater, he won't try anything 😞

If you don’t want to do baby led weaning (which I totally understand. I didn’t do it), I would just wait another month or so and try purées again. Some babies just don’t want it. Since their nutrition comes from breast milk or formula, the baby food isn’t all that important. My little boy didn’t want regular foods at all until after his first birthday. I offered a lot. He just wasn’t interested. He’s 2 now and eats everything.

You have to make sure you give food appropriately cut and in a manner that they can eat - certain food are avoided due to choking risk like raw apples, carrots, gummies, chips, crackers, etc. Make sure you read up on all unsafe foods. 
Also, make sure you are up to date on what to do with a choking infant/child. Safety first!
