There is abundance enough on this Earth for All. Scarcity is a myth that has been fed to us?

Question

Recently I heard a lecture on how this planet holds enough abundance for all.  
That there is no need for people to go hungry, homeless, without.  
That the reason people go without is due to the greed of those who own the abundance (wealth).
That we have been fed a myth of scarcity in order to (through fear) want to protect & care more about the controllers of abundance (owners of the wealth) than those going without.
Thoughts?

I do think people hoard wealth and resources, which is a problem, but I disagree with the idea that scarcity is a fear-mongering tactic

It’s true. Over population is a huge myth we’ve been fed. Metropolitan areas are heavily populated but geographically our planet has millions and millions of acres of empty land. Obviously we don’t want to encroach on all of it, and continue to have forests and green spaces, but we haven’t even began to be geographically overpopulated. There’s also plenty of food for all of us. An average US family throws away 250lbs of edible food a year.

At current population rates that is my understanding. 
In 2016 The Gaurdian reported that the U.S. was wasting about 50% of our food supply. We’ve got to keep prices high and have shiny shiny apples though I guess. 
Another example from the U.S. is the housing crises in the wake of the 2008 financial crash. This country decided it would rather evict people from homes and leave them to rot instead of providing relief. We’re still feeling it’s echos in the grossly inflated rental and housing market today. 
Covid has only increased wealth disparity with the obscenely rich becoming increasingly bloated with wealth, and everyone else struggling to get by. When the disparity reached a tipping point in past civilizations, nothing good ever happened. I fear we’re on a precipice. 
Of course things become even more complicated when we look at economics on a global level. I still believe we could create a more equitable world if we truly wanted though.

I dont think scarcity is a myth in the sense that the earth has an infinite amount of resources. Resources are very finite and we have a responsibility to be careful in how we use these resources. 
However, I do agree with the general sentiment behind this. There is something really immoral about the existence of a trillionaire in the same world where millions of people are starving and suffering from food scarcity

I fully agree there is no reason for there to be homeless people and people going without food. Humans are not “less than” because they are poor.

I agree there’s no need for people to be homeless because there’s literally thousands of homes that are abandoned that no one is living in but a homeless person can’t live there because it’s considered squatting even though the house has been abandoned. 😑 People value money in this world way more than actual humanity and helping out your neighbor.

People definitely hoard wealth and resources.
Overpopulation is overall a myth, however, it would be best to lower the birth rate in certain areas, and still continue to push for better environmentally sound options.
For instance, the more advanced a country becomes, the lower the birth rate drops with it, meaning people tend to have less children and later in life. However, the more advanced countries use the most resources. The opposite is true for countries still developing. Take India as an example. India is heavily populated in urban areas, and in the 80's & 90's the birth rate was 8-9 children. They still use less resources as a whole although the birth rate is higher than the US.
Resources are not infinite. They just aren't, especially without further technological advancements. Our Earth is not infinite. We can stretch or shrink our time here, though.
So I think it would be the best course of action for our sustainability to even the birth rates across the globe through sex education and access to education (in general, more specifically for females), access to birth control and familly planning. Simultaneously, we should be pushing to reduce as much waste and extra resource intake across the globe, and push for better environmental technology used on all continents.

Over population of the planet in a whole is a myth...Over population is certain countries where resources run low and their just isn't enough space for everyone is true. Not everyone has access or the privilege to just up and leave when it's over populated or there is not enough food or water.

I voted somewhat/bit of both.
There is without a doubt enough on this planet for all, our population could grow by several billion and there would still be enough IF everyone lived an efficient, environmentally friendly and non-greedy life.
The problem is that is never going to happen, humans are inherently greedy and our society further encourages greed. So as of right now, there is scarcity even if there doesn't have to be.
