Vanishing Twin?

Question

I went to to my 8 week ultrasound and was told they see a perfect 8 week baby with heartbeat, but they also seen a smaller sac and what they think is another baby much smaller with no heartbeat. I have to go back in two weeks for another ultrasound to see if I’m experiencing a “vanishing twin”. Has anyone gone through this? I’m so confused!

I did have a vanishing twin this pregnancy though. I had two empty sacks my first ultrasound and my HCG dropped about 900. They said i was miscarrying. My next blood test came back with doubled HCG so they did another ultrasound and there was only one sack and one fetal pole. Im now 32 weeks exactly

I don't have vanishing twins, but I was the remaining twin for my mom! Other than delivering a second sac it didn't cause any problems for her.

I had a vanishing twin this pregnancy. At 8 weeks there were 2 sacs, one had a baby with a heartbeat and the other only had a yolk sac with no fetal pole. Repeat ultrasounds just showed that the sac was getting smaller, the other baby never developed. Good luck!
