Work schedule advice
I’m a FTM looking for work schedule advice! I’ll be going back when she’s about 4 months old and have the ability to kind of make my own schedule so I want to set it up in a way that’s going to be best/easiest.
I only work 3 days a week/20 hours but I might only start back at 15 originally. I exclusively pump and I TRY to do it every 3 hours but sometimes I go 5-6 (my boobs never hurt and I am okay with supplementing formula.)
I REALLY don’t want to pump at work so I am thinking about doing 3 shifts of 9-2 with no lunch (so probably 5 hours between pumps) or 10-4 with an hour lunch to go home and pump. I’m trying to weigh the pros and cons of each but as a first time mom I have no clue what a baby’s schedule looks like as she gets older. Having a good work/life balance is really important to me and I want to make my mornings easier (I am NOT a morning person) but also have enough bonding time in the evenings with her AND enough time for self care/exercise to help maintain my mental health (history of depression/anxiety!)
I feel fortunate to be in a part time position right now and want to make the best use of my time since I can control my schedule! Hoping some working moms can offer some suggestions, scheduling insight and what they’d prefer and why!
Also—do you mamas find you have time during naps to get things done? I have a side hustle I do on my days off from home and wondering if I can get a few hours of work in during her naps or if I’ll need a sitter on my days off too. Thank you!
