Child support

Does my baby’s father have to be on the birth certificate in order to put him on child support? Is there another way for him to sign the birth certificate without coming to the hospital? He’s been pretty absent my whole pregnancy and I was told by the ladies in my Dr office that I can’t list him on the birth certificate unless he comes to the hospital when I give birth and signs. The thing is, getting the occasional text from him every couple of months stresses me out and gives me severe anxiety, so I really don’t want to deal with him at the hospital after giving birth. Please no mean comments, this man has put me through a lot and I promise he doesn’t deserve any kindness from me.
