Breastfeeding preemie concerns

De

So my son was born two weeks ago at 35+1 and has been in the NICU for 2 weeks, we were finally released today. I have been exclusively pumping since he was born, and haven’t been allowed to attempt to breastfeed him directly up until 2 days ago because they wanted to measure exactly what he was eating at each feeding. The problem is I’m afraid I’ve lost my chance to breastfeed him; he’s only successfully breastfed a couple times and never more than 10 minutes. He’s really having trouble latching and at this point he screams when I even try. I’ve tried nipple shields, pumping beforehand, putting him on every time he shows signs of wanting it, but now I can’t even get him to latch on at all. It’s really disheartening 😔 has this happened to anyone else and you were able to successfully breastfeed afterwords?
