Toddler speech delay & COVID
My son will be 3 in August and is not talking yet. He mumbles noises and brings us toys, remotes, or drags us to things he wants but doesn’t say anything. We had him evaluated March 2020 and he began speech therapy. Then COVID happened and all his therapies were now done through Zoom. He did okay in the beginning but maybe 2 or 3 months of weekly speech therapy calls he began to refuse to do anything during the calls and had several temper tantrums. We continued weekly speech via Zoom until March 2021 when my husband and I decided it wasn’t working for him anymore. He would fight us on therapy days which led to nothing ever being accomplished and I’ve felt extremely overwhelmed trying to get him talking by myself. So now we don’t know what to do. He can’t start in-school therapy until he’s 3 and has been accepted in the program. I’m starting to feel terrible for taking him out but it was doing more harm then good. We just want him to talk or communicate at all.
