Toddler clingy to only me

I take care of my toddler alone because his dad works maybe 16 hours a day or more. At home, he has separation issues and can’t sleep on his own, only on me. Naps the same way. Always wanting to sit on me etc. I found out from the daycare that he’s quite independent there, he sits down, sleeps on his own, eats on his own and follows instructions. He’s basically well behaved and the opposite of how he is at home. I’m pregnant and it’s physically painful to have him so clingy all the time. Has anyone experienced this before? How can I make him independent at home enough to sleep in his own room? Thanks
