Blood clot patch

My 2 plus old niece have born with patch on her leg (otherwise her health is perfectly fine). The doctor mentioned that the mark/patch over the leg is due to umbilical cord being tied up to baby’s leg in the mother’s womb because of which there was blood clot as there was no proper blood flow. Although doctor confirmed and clarified my sister-in-law that this wouldn’t hurt the baby however this mark on her leg would forever.

On behalf of my in-law, I would want to ask Fellow Mothers if baby of yours or friends or other families had experienced similar situation? If so how did you handle it? Is there a way to get rid of the patch?
