Larger sibling age gaps?

Question

I have a 4 year old son. Had him right before I turned 22 and I wanted to have at least 2 more all close in age. Like every two years be done by the time I'm 26 and enjoy my 30s and 40s with older kids and get to travel with hubby while still young (44). Obviously the plan never works out like we want and after almost 4 years of ttc a 2nd I've been diagnosed with something that is preventing me from conceiving.
My question is, with my son already 4 I feel like that's on the wider side of a sibling age gap. And my condition isn't improving yet with the meds so it may be a couple more years. So assuming it takes until he's 6-8 does anyone have experience with that wide of a gap between their kids? Like if we only had one more and there was an 8 year gap do you think they would be able to bond as well? I'm worried about him growing up alone and I know from experience that siblings aren't always going to be your friend through life regardless of age but I also know I'm much closer to my bio half brother I never grew up with who is 3 years younger than me than my adopted siblings I've known my whole like who are 14/15 years older....
I guess I'm looking for any positive stories? I've lived the mot so positive ones myself... Silly things I worry about when my little one is asleep....

My brother and i are 7 years apart we wasnt good together when we were younger i tell u that coz obviously he was a baby and i was out playing a lot but we were good when he turned on his teen years and up until now we have a really good bond.

My daughter is 8 and my son is 1.5 and I LOVE this age gap! My daughter is such a happy helper, adores her little brother, she's much more independent at that age and being able to explain things to her regarding pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, babies and all that made things a lot easier for us. They still play together and are the best of friends.

My brother and I are 7 years apart and my husband and his sister are 6 years apart and we all have good relationships with our siblings. My first is 6 and my second is 1 and it's been a nice age gap. My 6 year old is so sweet to his brother and plays with him. My mom is 1 of 6 and she is actually closer to her siblings farther in age to her than the ones closer in age.

I’m the eldest of 5 kids. My gaps with my siblings are 2.5 years, 5 years, 11 years, and 13 years. The one I have gotten along with the least for our entire lives is the 2.5 year gap. We didn’t like each other as kids at all, as adults we get along better but we’re very different people and not even close to best friends. The one I’m closest with is the 13 year gap. I helped raise her (and the 11 year gap) so we have a special bond because of that and we are similar people with very similar interests. Age is only a number.

I don’t think a gap in age determines how close siblings are. My husband and his sister are 10 years apart, and he’s close with her. My mom’s youngest sister is closer in age to me than she is to her, and they’re super close. I think it’s how they interact in childhood and as adults that determines how close they become. 
My sister and I are less than 2 years apart and I can tell you that although I love her to death and we’re close, the majority of my pre teen to young adult years were spent fighting with her constantly; I couldn’t stand her. We’re actually closer now that we’re both moms and our kids spend time together. It’s definitely a lot less hostile now than when we were kids lol

My kids are 20 yr, 14 yr and 1 and half yrs. They are all close . They love the baby so much and the two older ones are super close .

My brother and I are ten years apart in age. We are and always have been close. My husband has four siblings ranging in ages oldest to youngest being ten years apart and they’re all close. I think the age gap provides a different type of relationship until you’re older because you’re always in different phases of life and I think a lot depends on the older sibling to make the effort since the younger one doesn’t have much of an option until they’re older. I think parenting makes a big difference too. But overall it is more than extremely possible to have kids that have really close relationships with each other while having a bigger age gap!

So age gaps, 10 months, 11 yrs, 24 yrs, 26 yrs, 29 yrs. I love and adore all my siblings. I'm not that close with my close in age brother anymore. Decently close to my sister but she's at that I know better than anyone age lol. And my 3 younger siblings are just too much fun. They enjoy hanging out with my 3 yr old daughter more than they enjoy hanging out with big sissy but that's alright. They know I'm big sissy and that's all that matters.
