What is this?????

*This is my brothers throat the second picture is the first time he had it the first picture is right now*

This is how he’s explained it:

-had from dec until jan the first time (he doesn’t know exact dates)

-swelling went down to the bumps they look like now

-just exist daily

-when using throat for strenuous activities-oral

-when it swells up it’s difficult to swallow

-has happened twice over 6 months

-he’s currently got it now for two weeks and is still happening

-the first time had white stuff and was very red

-this time it hasn’t got the white stuff but is really red

-makes it difficult to breathe and drink sometimes

-has tried a few natural remedies but none have really worked

- every time he’s had it the pain scale is 6 or 7 out of 10 but he still carries on eating like normal even when it hurts really bad (idk what is wrong w this boys head seriously n he still hasn’t gone to a doctor)

-he poked it a few times with a cotton bud where it’s circled in between and it bled a bit (he thought it was tonsil stones but hasn’t found anything)

-when trying to sleep hurts like breathing in really cold air, gets a dry throat creating mucus buildup making it difficult to breathe in the morning until he’s gagged it out

This boy won’t go to the bloody doctors bc he’s too socially awkward does anyone have any idea what it could be???

I’ve argued with him so much about it to go but he won’t

Any help would be appreciated please 😩
