Is Texas safe? Is it worth living in? Near Houston or a good known city

I’m looking to move from California out there cause of the rent, I’m terrified to move to Texas though because of the weather, the hurricanes that has happened, I don’t know if tornados happen but I’m scared of those, I’m just so scared of all of them because I don’t know how life is there

I want a good life for my young children, I want them to be safe & just live a good life around good people

So besides all that, what is a good safe city to live in? And a city where a hurricane probably can’t reach to 🤦🏻‍♀️ or tornados lol
