Baby girl born at 35 weeks 🦋🤍💫

Gabriella

Esme Rose, due on the 01.03.21 but born on the 26.01.21 ✨

It all started with my 25 week midwife appointment. She measured my bump and plotted it on the graph. I had started to become anxious about my bump size as I had received a few comments about “how small I was” 🙄After this, my midwife advised that she wanted to book me in for a growth scan, as my bump was measuring smaller then it should of been. When I got to the hosptial and had my growth scan, I was told that my baby was on the 31st centile and was perfectly healthy.

Then at my 28 and 31 week appointments, the same thing happened. Bump measuring small, growth scan ordered. At 28 weeks my baby was plotted on the 27th centile. However by 31 weeks, my baby had dropped to the 7th centile. I was told that I would have another growth scan in 2 weeks time to see what was happening. There was no concerns as my baby was active and healthy. However as she was below the 10th centile, my pregnancy was moved to high risk.

On the day of my fourth growth scan, I had never felt so nervous. As this was my first baby, I did not know what to expect. Throw in the fact that the world was battling a global pandemic and I couldn’t have my partner with me! On this growth scan, I was told by a consultant that my baby was measuring on the 2nd centile and that I needed to be induced in the next few days. I was quickly rushed in for steroid shots and told to prepare for a phone call.

After an extremely positive induction process, my baby girl was born at 11:48 on the 26th of January 2021. She was born at 35 weeks + 1 gestation and weighed 5 pounds. She did not need to go into NICU, instead spent a few days in a transitional ward just to be monitored.

I feel the luckiest girl in the world to be a mama to this perfect girl 🤍
