do you clean your house before you have guests stay with you?

my husband and i just had a fight because he thinks it's annoying that i clean and straighten the house thoroughly before any guests come to stay with us. i'm pregnant and haven't been feel well until recently (yay second trimester) so i haven't been cleaning much the past few months except for when people are about to visit. he told me it's ridiculous and that i'm acting like our house isn't good enough or something and i think he's frustrated that i have only felt the need to clean like this when people are coming over. he says i spend all day cleaning. i told him i was raised to have a clean home for guests and besides, once i start cleaning it's hard for me to stop until i clean EVERYTHING completely.

ANYWAYS, do you guys "deep" clean your house before guests too? or am i being extra?
