What's your message to your kids?
Like if you wrote a book, and signed your child's copy with a note, what would the message be? Or it depends?
My boyfriend's father is a scientist in a niche field, and as such has written several books on the topic. Boyfriend went to college in order to get the same degree, but dropped out after 2 years.
It's obvious his "career path" was chosen for him from a young age (won't go into details). Trust me, he was miserable while he was studying for the field. Luckily he was passionate about something else and dropped out in order to pursue it, which has since worked out great. We've been dating for 4 years, but I've known him for about 10.
Long story short, we've been living together for a while, and just the other day I was going throug our bookshelf reorganizing when I noticed his father's books (we've had them for years, I've just never opened them). I was curious if he father wrote him a signed note so I opened them. On all 5 of them, the exact same note.
"Son, I wish you great academic success" - signed by first and last name
Like?! Am I the only one who finds this weird? I don't plan on talking to my boyfriend about this, just curious to see if others here agree with me. I'd expect something like love, dad. Or different messages over the years, but they are all the exact same authomatic response. Each book was given to him as soon as they came out (over the course of 10 years, even before he got into college within the field).
What do you guys think? How would you sign a book to your child?
He has never given him a birthday card or anything, so these are the only official written messages by his father. It's just sad if you ask me 🤷🏻♀️
