I don't even know what to title this.
Technically I don't need to worry about this for a while, but I'm a planner and it's been bugging me. I have a 2.5 yo daughter, due with a baby in late November, and I'm trying to figure out baby number 3.
I know it's recommended to wait a year or so between children. I have several reasons why I won't be, and I am confident my health and any babies will be ok. I also know it sounds crazy to be planning a third child before the second is born, but I know this is what will work for my family. Really, please no comments about my being foolish or shortsighted, I know what I'm getting into.
So all that aside, if all goes well, I will be breastfeeding exclusively and donating extra milk after baby is born. I had an over supply last time and felt I didn't do enough with what I was given. But I know breastfeeding exclusively will most likely delay the return of ovulation for at least a few months, which is kind of a bummer. I'm hoping to conceive within 6-8 months of having this baby. (I will definitely wait at least 2 for recovery, don't worry)
I know the easiest route would be to just not prevent, and when my period shows up start actually trying. And this is where my second problem is. Currently my husband and I don't have sex. I've tried everything, it just doesn't happen unless I'm trying to conceive (and I'm armed with charts and schedules to convince him). So 'not preventing' is useless. I've never used ovulation strips before, so I guess I don't know if that's an effective tool for this situation.
I guess this all seems kind of a mess. I don't want to compromise my milk supply by being pregnant, but I definitely don't want to wait until I'm done breastfeeding because who knows how long will be. I really can't have the next baby come whenever, because conceiving has to be completely intentional or it won't happen. And I've decided for the sake of my family that sooner rather than later will be the best route.
Anyone have any advice, or do I just need to give up on trying to figure it out?
