Contractions?

38 weeks and 5 days. The last few days I have been experiencing strong “period” cramps for about 30 seconds sporadically. Are these what contractions will feel like? First time mom so not sure what to expect.

Sounds like Braxton Hicks, 
I want to say Yes and No because real contractions made me want to DIE. Lol. 
There are a few different phases of labour, and each phase the contractions are a bit different. But for me personally it's like Braxton Hicks on steroids lol. 
Really depends on your pain tolerance / coping ability. 
Nothing to be scared of though, I'm on my third pregnancy so it must not of been that bad 🤪

For me(mom of 2) labor starts feeling like period cramps. It takes me a few before I realize it might be labor over Braxton Hicks. True contractions will keep coming and in a pattern (ex: every 15 minutes) they get closer together, longer, and increase in pain. Braxton Hicks are just annoying

My dr asked me if i’ve been having contractions and i just didn’t know what to say bc how am i supposed to know? lmao i’m a ftm too. But she said that it’ll be a strong tightening feeling on your stomach & that i’ll know when i have them
