Husband thinks I choose to get upset

I’m a simple person. If you tell me something and make a commitment I go by it and communicate if there’s any changes. We have family coming over for thanksgiving and arriving tomorrow. There’s a lot to do for the house and I’ve been out all day. He Said he will be with his friend in the afternoon and come home around 6:30. We planned to make dinner together and I get home now and he says instead he will be going with his friend to dinner and come home at 10 and asks me what I’m gonna eat. He was working on the house all day which is why he didn’t go and made a plan for a later time. It’s just not that hard to tell me in advance so I can align my schedule accordingly. I didn’t say anything Bc I don’t want another argument. Just need advice.
