Spotting brown for a week

My period is supposed to come in 8 days but I had been spotting brown and blackish blood for a week…it started light but got heavier with brown blood and some red blood. yesterday there were red blood and small amount of blood clots. I thought it was the start of my period but today there were barely any bleeding. I have never bled during midcycles before so what is happening? I was also sick this month and going through some stress. could this be implantation bleeding? I saw that they only last a few days so I am so confused!! And I think its too early to take tests Help!! Any advice would help
