Birth Control Talk - Advice?

hey everyone, I would love some advice

I’m nearly 21, I have two kids, both were planned. My husband and I have been together since we were 15, in the years before my first (pregnant at 18) we relied on the pull out method which was obviously idiotic. My parents didn’t really teach me anything at all about sex, safe sex, contraceptives or birth control, in fact my mom took my condoms when she found them as she would go through my room when I was at school.

That being said I’ve never had any form of birth control and I’m really hoping to start some, but everyone I ask tells me horror stories about every form from the IUD to the mini pills. I’m not in a place physically, mentally or financially to have another baby anytime soon. I’m not super comfortable with something as invasive as the little thing they put in your arm or the IUD.

I actually asked my mom and she recommended aleese which I hear is discontinued because of it failing to work and she actually said “yeah probably I got pregnant with you on them” like ok why would you recommend aleese then lmao
