Wondering what to do

So I have birth back in September, I had a fourth degree tear and had stitches, at my 6 week checkup the surgeon said everything was looking good, but come to find out this past Friday the surgeon didn’t sew it up right and I have to go get more stitches done. Everyone that I tell this to says I should sue the surgeon for malpractice. I honestly don’t know what to do right now because I thought what I was going through was normal and come to find out it was completely not my fault.
