What does this mean??

So today while changing my daughter who is 8 days old, I came across something in her diaper that was rust colored and almost looked like blood! 😭 She doesn’t have a fever but she has been fussy/colicy the last two nights. Is this a sign of a UTI? Is this normal? Help 😩 She’s had two diapers that look like this!

Send a picture to your pediatrician.
Girls can have bleeding like an infant period due to your hormones during delivery or something along those lines. It happens between 2-10 days old and usually last for 2-3 days. It’s very normal. 
BUT with any bleeding consult with your pediatrician.

Go ahead and take her to the doctor and they can make sure there is no UTI. You can also have her examined to put your mind at ease in case you are worries about anything else.

It could be urates in her nappy? I had it with my baby boy when he was a couple of days old. Could mean she is dehydrated? Is she getting enough milk?

Female babies have "periods" it's leftover hormones from you. It will go away.

Baby girls can have a “period” after birth due to the hormone changes. My daughter had it. Started on day 6 and lasted maybe 3-4 days. One of the nurses mentioned it casually in passing while we were still in the hospital and thank god she did, because I would have had no idea it was a thing otherwise. I was surprised how little it’s talked about because seeing it first hand was terrifying.
