Would you feel guarded too?

So my baby is now 3 months today! When she was only 2 weeks my stepMIL and FIL wanted to visit, of course we said yes, they walk in with my stepMIL’s granddaughter without asking, we kept quiet. While FIL was holding our daughter the other granddaughter got mad at my stepMIL and decided to smack my daughter on the head! They did NO correction to her whatsoever. Now we have Christmas coming up and of course this other little girl will be there and I am so nervous. First off my stepMIL wants me to put my daughter into matching outfits with her granddaughter even though I’ve already picked out an outfit as this is her first Christmas ever but I had told my stepMIL that I picked out an outfit for her already and next is she wants them to get pictures. I just feel so guarded and scared if I set my daughter down that this girl will smack her again. Maybe it’s my PPA getting me but I can’t help it. Would you too feel guarded? Or do I sound silly?

I would feel guarded too and I would have corrected the other girl when she smacked the baby. That could be an age behavioral thing but she still need to be taught it’s not nice to hit. I would put your baby in the outfit you picked out. You are mama and know best. Good luck!

Maybe I'm just a butt but if s ok meineke elses child does something to my child and is not corrected I correct them and remove them from the situation.  Sorry if I tick people off but my responsibility is to protect MY kids and if your kid is hurting my kid and you dont step in I will.    As far as the outfits just say no thanks I got her something already.  Its straight forward and set a boundry

I would be upset that they didn’t correct her. Even if she was as young as 1 year old, she would understand “no we don’t hurt babies” my 2 year old niece has gotten upset and smacked my baby once and got in big trouble (removed from the situation and wasn’t allowed to play with baby again) and hasn’t done it since. She has accidentally hurt her since, and she gets a reminder to be careful but babies aren’t made of glass so I don’t get upset about it. Personally I would let them get together for a picture after explaining to be careful around baby, but it’s your baby and it’s up to your comfort level.

Honestly the first time it happened if they didn’t say anything about her hitting the baby you should have. You are her mother, no one will protect her like you do, you have to be her strongest advocate. So I would just say she can’t hold the baby if she’s going to hit, which she obviously will.

So this is really common in babies and the key is you just have to be patient and keep on removing the other child. How old is her other granddaughter to me it sounds like you have a lot of hatred towards this child I get being upset that the child thought poor baby on the head but the way that you talk about her just seems like pure hatred. You don't have to dress your baby in anything you don't want to simply let her know thank you I like the idea but we already got outfits or maybe you can compromise and have your baby wear your outfit and then change her long enough to get pictures done and the other outfit as well. Literally the day I brought my baby home from the hospital or her nephew came over and smacked her directly in the face. Their kids they need redirected they need how to be nice they're going to get jealous that doesn't mean anything about the child other than the fact that she is a normal child. I wouldn't feel guarded I would use it as an opportunity to teach the child how to be nice to younger babies.
