Do women take off work when morning sickness kicks in?

When i was pregnant with my my first, i was inside for 4 wks from morning sickness. Now again with my second and nausea kicked in at 8 wk and im down again. I work for myself so i just dont take clients for the next wks until i feel better. I was watching youtube to see other ppl experience dealing with nausea and one of the video was a lady at work. No one knows she is pregnant, and she is so sick from nausea. I felt horrible: i guess i assume everyone takes off. Ive worked for myself for so long i dont know how its usually done. Do you get time off during this time and when the baby is born?? Do you just have to go to work and deal with morning sickness at work??
