Did we do anything wrong?

So I work in a medical dispensary and these customers two old guys of them were new. I had asked both of them if they were in and one refused to speak to me. Which was like whatever. The system will tell me and I let them both back as I’m checking their cards in. One of them is expired and it’s like badly expired like 8/20/21. And apparently he didn’t know. We told him since it’s expired you technically don’t have a card so you can’t be on the sales floor. He continued to speak to his friend about what he wanted and didn’t leave the sales floor. We told him again he will have to leave and next time when his card is not expired he can come back. He made a snarky comment like oh I’ll come to my shop I go to definitely not here. We were like alright you still cannot be on the sales floor. You have to leave the sales floor. And he threw his hands up and told us to go to hell that his store doesn’t ever check his card and sells him stuff. And told his friend to come with him. His friend didn’t want to and was confused. They both left and the guy who lost his mind was confused on what we were even saying because he’s used to his shop selling him product with an expired card. Which whatever good for him. But in the state I live in you have to have a valid medical card. I just felt like we were doing our jobs. 🤷🏼‍♀️
