Damn cellphone providers 😡
I've been needing to upgrade my phone and contract for a while and then last week, a lady from my phone company called to let me know there's a nice special out. I'm like, OK I haven't read much up on the phone you're offering, can you call me back tomorrow? Sure no problem.
She phones me back and in the meantime, I see my provider offering a phone that I haven't seen but I love the brand. So I asked the lady can't I have that phone instead.
She says to me, sorry but that phone is end of life, not in-stock and we have no intention of bringing it it. I'm like, damn but why are there brand new contracts offering it? She tells me no it's an error on the website, they shouldn't be there. OK look I still need to think about it, please can you phone me back the next day.
She doesn't but the next day I take my chances and order the phone I wanted anyway on the deal advertised.
Monday she phones back and I explained what I did and she said she sees, the order has been cancelled due to no stock. I'm like, strange I got no communication but anyway, I guess I have no choice then but to get the phone you offer. I had some queries about the specs because she was telling me one thing but the specs are listed differently (for example, she said it was a 108mp camera but the specs said 48mp). She also said if the phone doesn't meet my expectations I have 14 days to cancel the contract.
The phone arrives and sure it's nice but I'm a bit salty that it wasn't the one I wanted originally. But I leave it. It's not 108mp camera, it is 48mp but it can be enhanced to 108mp (if you select that option, like you would if you want to take a panoramic). It's not a 5000mAh battery like she said, it's 4000 but it comes with a 1000 power bank.
A few days later I check and they're STILL advertising the specials. So I contact the provider via Facebook.
They ARE EXPECTING A SHIPMENT OF THE PHONE I ORIGINALLY WANTED IN TWO WEEKS!!!! So I'm like, OK then I want to cancel the contract please and wait for this phone. Sure, they say. No problem. BUT because it's a premature cancellation, you have to pay 75% of the balance of the contract. I'm like absolutely NOT. The contract was sold to me under false pretences, I was lied to about the specifications of the phone and I was told the phone could be returned if it didn't meet my expectations with no penalities. So I do not accept your 75% cancellation fee.
They say a team member will get hold of me.
Then last night, late, I get the quote for the contract and I see the sales agent loaded a whole bunch of products I didn't ask for! A data package, two different insurances, etc. Pushing my monthly premium up substantially.
I am absolutely fuming. FUMING. IRATE to the core. I have had my cellphone contract with them for over 10 years and they do me like this.
