Do you buy clothes as your child needs them or stock up ahead of time

I have been In the habit of buying everything ahead of time, always sale items but I feel like I’m always buying stuff. Just wondering what people usually do. Wondering if I bought as needed if it’s less often/ less money.

Bit of both! I usually have all the staples (leggings, t-shirts, etc) ahead of time and then buy more cute individual items closer to the time she’ll actually wear it.

I get a lot of hand me downs, so I store the bigger sizes until he’s ready for them, but it’s helpful to have some items on hand as they grow.

Used stuff at used children clothing store -The stock changes every week so if there’s something good at a bigger size, then buy ahead

Well. I rarely buy (at least now, as my son is almost two). We have handmedowns. But if clothes are small, I sort trough the ones we have been given and then make a list of what we need and then we have a few second hand shops where I buy things we need.
It is just my philosophy, small children grow so fast, and they don't use the clothes much. I don't like to buy and throw away, I rather give a second life to unwanted clothes.

I buy used clothes for the most part. Things like shoes, socks, and outdoor winter coats I buy them as needed. Resale shops, Facebook Marketplace, NextDoor, and friends are great sources for used clothes. I also have a Dig and Save near me which basically gives clothes away for pennies. Buying clothes ahead of time for a few dollars saves me a lot. When I buy as needed I tend to buy more than I need. I prefer to stock up ahead of time on good deals and then when my kid needs clothes I take inventory and see exactly how much of something I need.

My kids grow way too fast so I have to buy as we go. The baby is basically skipping a size right now & my 10 year old is already wearing a size 2 womens jeans. Mix that with unpredictable NY weather what fits and is appropriate today will be too small and out of season tomorrow!

I try to buy as needed at right before the season change just because my kids don’t seem to grow on the same curve as most kids. My 3 year old has been wearing the same clothes for more than a year. He was wearing 12m shorts all last summer. Hoping he fits in his 2t this year. I bought a size up last year and they all ended up too big so lesson learned.

Both. If I find something I really like I’ll buy it in a few sizes. But I usually just buy things as we need them. Like it’s starting to get warm where I am and she doesn’t have many spring/summer items that fit her. I buy more for the season then the size.
