Ear Piercing at 2.5 years old

Has anyone gotten their child’s ears pierced when they were a toddler and NOT a baby? We haven’t gotten my daughters ears pierced yet but are thinking about it in the next couple weeks. My mom was all about getting her granddaughters ears pierced within the 1st year she was born. Now, she tells me I should not get her ears pierced bcuz she will develop keloids bcuz she is too old now. I have never heard of such a thing. I know some children, even adults can develop keloids but my mom is making it seems like she will 100% get them. I want to pierce her ears but I am scared bcuz she is older and I don’t want her to be in a lot of pain. For the record: she has eczema and sensitive skin if that matters. Thoughts? Experiences?
