Which did you find harder?

For parents who experienced both, did you find it harder being a working parent or a stay at home parent?

I’ve done it both ways, and being a working parent (at least in my case, with my particular job) is waaaayyy more difficult. My best memories are of being a sahm. Working full time and parenting making me feel like I’m doing everything badly and I’m not giving my full attention to anything. I’m depleted and annoyed constantly

For me, being a stay at home parent is much more difficult. I don’t enjoy it and it elevates my stress and anger levels. Everyone in our household is happier when I work.

I've done both and I think they're both really hard. They both have their own struggles and it's hard to say which is harder. Although as a stay at home mom I get more time with my kids, being a working mom I had a lot more patience. Housework is constant when you stay at home because kids are always there making a mess so I struggle to stay on top of it. When I was working I also struggled to stay on top of the housework because I wasn't home as much. But the load of housework wasn't as much because we weren't cooking all the meals and snacks there and playing there all day. Motherhood is just hard. I think this depends a lot on you and how many kids you have and their ages too.

I’m a teacher so I’m either with my own kids or other people’s kids. Both can be hard at times as with teaching you do need to be ‘on’ all day and you rarely get to make full use of your breaks. An office job might be different!
With 1 child, staying at home was easier (once we got past the newborn stage!) as he’d nap and I’d get breaks and downtime. With 2 kids though where the oldest isn’t napping, it’s probably a bit more even.

Staying at home . It can be depressing not getting out of the house everyday, & babies are hard work let’s be honest! It definitely feels as though you never get a break , causing you to snap on your partner more

For me it was staying at home. I thrive on routine (much like a toddler lol) and working gave me. The routine I needed. Staying home my day was kind of all. Over the place with no rhyme or reason. And as much as I tried to make my own routine I failed. So now I work part time it's been a great balance
