My 4 month old has COVID

Hi all 👋

I’m a Mum of 3 living in New Zealand where we are currently experiencing our first widespread outbreak of COVID. The whole family tested positive approximately 10 days ago and for the most part, after a rough week, all of us have bounced back.

However my 4 month old baby has not 😭 He had a few days of fever, lethargy, congestion, cough and after 3-4 days those symptoms improved. Then on day 5 he stopped sleeping 😩 he will wake a couple of hours into his night sleep screaming hysterically, and then will not settle in his bed again for more than 10 minutes for the rest of the night. The only way he will sleep is if we hold him upright. We’re on night 6 of this, have had him checked by the doctor and ruled out an ear infection, but GP thinks it might be some longer lasting covid symptom like earache or pressure behind the ears.

Has anyone else experienced this in their little ones?! Because COVID is so new here, few of my friends have any experience with it. I’m beyond tired and really hoping someone here has words of encouragement that this will one day pass!!
