Playing or nah?

Me and this guy have been talking for 2 weeks. Everything's been great until now. I think he's avoiding me and im not sure why. Yesterday we played basketball together and hung out, we got close (physically and just bonding wise). Before classes we walk around campus with each other and he wasn't at our waiting spot, after waiting I went onto class and saw him walking with a few other dudes. He put his hand up and I high fived him but he didn't move his hand just stared at me so I squeezed it and kept going. He avoided me on the way to 2nd period. I don't know what's going on but I'm worried. He's had this crush on me for month and just started talking to me well like I said 2 weeks ago and now he's being distant. My friend told me he was whispering to his friend and kept saying "dude don't say anything her friend is right there". I don't want to be played but I'm not sure what's going on and I dont know how to handle this situation. What are yalla thoughts?
