When to do baby shower?

So I’m a ftm and I’ve never been to a baby shower, I have no idea what to expect. I’m currently 27 weeks now and my boyfriends mom is throwing me a baby shower, she wants to do it end of may which puts me at 35 weeks. Is this a normal time to have a shower or do people do it a little earlier?

I definitely would prefer having it soon. I would say anytime now but I know they take time to plan
At 35 weeks you’ll likely feel miserable, I had a meltdown after my baby shower the next weekend setting everything up after and dealing with all of the boxes of stuff 🤣 I mean I was so thankful for everything of course but I had no energy and just felt overwhelmed. So many clothes to wash, organize, things to put together… it’s just a lot when you are so uncomfortable. I was probably 32 weeks here too. Had baby at 38 weeks 
If I could pick, I’d probably say I’d want a shower between 25-30 weeks. You have so much more energy here

I had mine at 28 weeks just in case & went into labor early & also bc I didn’t want to be huge/uncomfortable & have to be at a boring party lol

I had mine at 30 weeks and thought it was perfect. I had enough energy to enjoy myself and gave me enough time to sort, wash, and fold baby clothes as I was still working full time back then. And there was still enough time to get any last minute baby stuff without worrying about going into labor before I was done

I’d say earlier is more typical, like 30-32 weeks, so that you have plenty of time to get anything you need that wasn’t gifted, make returns, wash everything that needs washing, etc. Anytime after 37 weeks is a pretty normal time to give birth so you’d want to have everything pretty much set up and done by then.

I had my first at 33 weeks, this time I wanted to do it around 35-36 weeks but my SIL is getting married around that time so mine will be at 33 weeks again lol
