I need a mom's advice!
As parents we obviously want to give the very best to our children. We want to go above and beyond for them. Or atleast I do.
And I'm struggling with that lately.
My son turns 5 in June, I wanted to make this one absolutely special for him. Thinking we would have an actual full out party at our house I ordered all the decorations and everything already.
But in April I found out majority of my family that I'm close to won't be able to attend. And we can't plan it for the following weekend because I have a cousin getting married, so by that 3rd weekend, I'd feel it's kinda too late.
My mil lives in a different state and won't be able to come due to it being so expensive. My husband's family in general is a hit or miss on if they'd come or not and it's 90% more like they won't show. My other family is the same way.
I have one friend who has kids my boys age who will likely come. But all of our other friends don't have kids or they do but they're much older like our age 😂
My son does want to invite two boys to his party from his class. The thing is, I don't know the parents. I see them at drop off and pick up, but I've never spoke to them. One family doesn't seem bad, they seem like we could get a long. The other family though... I feel like we'd having nothing in common with them, which I'm already a very shy person, so I feel weird about it! And of course that's the one my son talks about the most. So if we did have an actual party I'd feel bad for not inviting them.
So we were thinking maybe just not a do a full out party. And instead spend that weekend with him still celebrating and go do something as a family of his choosing. Aquarium, arcade, trampoline park, whatever. And then the day of his actual birthday since it's a weekday, I'll decorate the house the night before so we still use them and have his presents sitting out, his cake, the fun party favors I got and just enjoy it that way.
If you were in my shoes what would you do? I'm a stressor and I'm completely stressing over this. I hate not having a full out plan already, so this is all driving me crazy
