Toddler at dinner time

I am all for gentle parenting, I am just having a hard time if I am doing it right.

So my daughter is 3 and when it comes dinner time she doesn’t want to eat. I tried this approach where I won’t force her to eat, but I will keep her dinner on the table so when she is hungry her meal is waiting for her. It’s been working like a charm!! She tends to get hungry probably an hour after dinner was served. I give her the dinner plate I had made for her and she eats it all! What a win, right? Lol not so much. Now the issue is pouring over into when we go out to eat or we are at someone’s house for a meal. She has this power now to say she isn’t hungry, and won’t sit still while everyone is eating. I shot myself in the foot with this one. Because now I am trying to implement “no, eat now because I said so” while we are out or with friends and obviously it doesn’t work. It leads to a melt down 🤦‍♀️

How do you guys go about dinner time? How do you get your toddler to eat at the same time as you?
