Mother in law from hell and husband too?

Mother in law wanted Mother’s Day to be all about her and how she’s the matriarch of the family. We didn’t go with her plans and she texted a bunch of bad stuff about me to my husband. Husband did not defend me and texted back that he didn’t have much to do, if he and i were to split he would only see the kids occasionally. 
That was so hurtful. I am a sahm and our babies are 2yo and 10 month old. Idk what to do.

Sounds like he thinks if y’all breakup you won’t let him see the kids especially since you don’t like his family. He didn’t do what his mother wanted for Mother’s Day so he’s actually putting you and your marriage first. Maybe focus on that - his actions.
