Middle names

Is it weird to give girls boy middle names? My husband and I have been thinking about giving our girls our nicknames growing up but worry that they are boy names and they will not like them. The middle names would be Dewey and Fred ahaha. My husband grand father use to always call him Dewey and my mom still til this day calls me Fred. I thought it would be a nice name to name them after us but based off of names others called us.

Some small back story, I’m not a fan of my mother in law and do not want to name my kid after her. Ideally I would love to name them both after people in my family but that’s not fair either. So we came up with the middle name idea and like it but undecided at this point. Just want peoples thoughts.

Ps. You don’t have to be rude if you think it’s dumb, a simple “I wouldn’t name them that” would suffice 🙃
