Experience living with in-laws ?

What’s your experiences living with in-laws and the circumstances that led you to. 
What ended up happening in the end ?

We lived with my in laws for years! We were working and not going to school so they offered to let us move in and get our undergrad stuff done. We moved out after graduation and my husband got his master's across the country. We moved back in after he got his master's. They bought their retirement house with an in law apartment attached just for us. We had 2 babies while in that apartment but with it only having one large bedroom it was getting a bit crowded. We just bought a house a little over a year ago and my mil cried as we backed our uhaul out. We only moved 20 minutes away 😊 We miss having them next door but we're very happy with some extra bedrooms.

My MIL lives with us. It's the 2nd time. The first time wasn't all that great. She did cause some problems with my fiance and I. We did set ground rules this time around and so far everything has been alright. No arguing. The circumstances that led to her being with us the first time is that her daughter got cancer and with all the equipment and what not there just wasn't enough room for her. She ended up passing in 2020... We moved for a little while and couldn't have animals and she refused to place her cat somewhere else so she went with her granddaughter, who is a royal bitch. She ended up kicking her out, so she was with a friend for a few months. My fiance didnt like the living conditions she was in because it was filthy, so now she's back with us. She's 65 years old so she's pretty up there in age and we couldn't have her on the streets.

We have moved frequently for work in the past. Whenever we ended up back near our hometowns, we would stay with one set of parent or the other to give us a bit more time to find a living situation we wanted, not just the first thing available. It has only been manageable because we knew it was temporary. I can’t fathom going into it with no end in sight, and especially not with a kid. The only way it might work long term is a separate dwelling, but even then, it sounds like too much. I like my space and I like peace and quiet. Both mothers LOVE talking.

We lived with my in law when we moved to a different state. Stayed there until we found a place and moved out.
We are currently living with my parents after moving back to our home town, and we are building a house. This is month 10. We will move out when the house is done.
