Breaking No Contact for His Birthday
My boyfriend (M 24) and I (F 23) were together for a year and broke up in January. The last time we talked was in April when I was rushed to the ER and he was an emergency contact on my profile, and the last moment before that was in March when I was assaulted at a park the night before my birthday. Both instances for breaking no contact were due to emergency situations where I felt like it was an exception to rule.
His birthday is coming up in July and I’m debating whether or not I should reach out to wish him a happy birthday. He was very supportive for me during my (very traumatic) birthday and during my ER trip, and all I want to say is to wish him a happy birthday, and hope that day and his 25th year is surrounded by people he loves.
Would that ruin his birthday? Would that make all the hard work I’ve been doing on myself for the past few months go out the window? If I don’t reach out, would it seem unfair for him to be there for me on my birthday, and I’m not supportive on his? Please respond kindly, but honestly.
