How often has your daycare kid been sick this year?

This is my daughters first year in daycare, she is 2 almost 3 years old and has literally been sick every other week with a new cough and runny nose.  I feel like it’s never going to end and my anxiety is thru the roof.

My son's first year in daycare was when he was 18 months. He was sick every other week from pneumonia to the stomach flu to colds. It's pretty normal for a child to get sick frequently in their first year of daycare. My LO is now 4 and only got sick 2 or 3 times this year, one of those times being COVID which was like a mild cold for him. So I promise you, it does get better. I know it's tough now but each year it becomes less and less.

Summer will be better but the first year is the worst, expect a new bug at least monthly. It sucks but it's part of life.

Same for my 2.5-year-old!! Pretty much 50% of her time in preschool so far has been home sick. And same for all her classmates/teachers. Everyone's immune system is trying to play catch up after our long time isolated from one another. It's tough but I'm hopeful with time it will start to level out 🙏🏻

Yes they do get sick alot due to their immune systems still being boosted from all the "new" germs and bugs and viruses. Same happend to my kids and best you can do is give them those boosters like in a syrup form or gummy drops or the ones you suck on. I found that it helped alot after some immune boosters. Was little expensive but considering the cost of meds and getting new one after they build an immune to those brand, was worse. Also didnt like to put so many medications in my LO's boddies

Same for my 1yo son he has been sick every other week it’s killing me! Plus these daycares still charge you whether you attend or not! I plan to start using elderberry liquid to help his immunity!

My son was in daycare full time and it was a center and I swear he was sick every single month. Took him out of daycare and what do you know, he wasn’t sick anymore . So crazy.

My son has allergies too but he’s basically constantly snotty and coughing he’s also had pink eye and hand foot and mouth already he’s only been at daycare 4 months 😫 it’s good got the immune system I guess

Depending on where you live, it could also be seasonal allergies. Both our kids have had runny noses and our oldest needed his nebulizer because he was wheezing. The cottonwood trees are crazy right now where we live. Even people who normally don’t have allergies are showing symptoms. Our kids have probably been sick a handful of times in the last year. Although Covid hit our hose last fall, so they weren’t at daycare for an annoyingly long time.

My kids have never been in daycare but my daughter started kindergarten this year and she was sick all the way up until February.

Same here. It’s been nonstop with both of my kids. This is their first season in daycare too, so hoping their immune system is going to kick in and give them a break next cold and flu season!
