Pre-Term or Early Labour

Candyland

Hi All,

Im asking about a subject that I know can be difficult for people to share-no hard feelings if I don’t get a response 💗

My story:

Some background, I am 30w tomorrow, I have gestational diabetes & I’m otherwise healthy and have an active baby boy bouncing around 💙

About a week ago, I noticed some bad cramping-like EXACTLY like first day of period, I really thought I was going to be bleeding when I went to the washroom. No blood. These cramps have been coming and going over the week-nothing rhythmic enough to call a contraction & no signs of water breaking etc. On Friday, I was able to record a few ‘peaks and valleys’ of cramp pain, like it would build then go down….about 2 mins apart. But that only lasted for 45 minutes.

I called my midwife last Wednesday & the earliest I could get in for a scan is today in the evening. I was also put on ‘cautionary bed rest’ I was told to call if my water broke or I had any bleeding.

I know I am not in active labour 100%. Just worried I’m going in that direction & would like to seek care accordingly….

Aside from the cramps I have very bad pelvic pressure and round ligament pain. I’ve had both of these since about 26 weeks. I also have what I think are Braxton hicks and my stomach just kinda gets tight and uncomfortable but it doesn’t hurt. So all that seems normal-just the cramps that are weirding me out.

My Questions:

💛Wouldn’t it be too late if my water broke? The goal of getting these things checked out is to avoid pre term labour if I’m starting effacement or dialation…

💛 If you went into pre term labour, did you experience any warning prior to active labour? Ie, cramps, bleeding?

💛If you didn’t have pre-term labour & experienced this-please share.

💛Those with GD, did you have pregnancy go full term? And have you experienced this? Not sure if it’s related…

Thanks in advance for anything you are willing to share, this is my first & there isn’t much online about warning signs you may be headed for pre term…
