Nervous as hell

My family are near enough to be homeless (me and my partner, 2 kids), lease is almost up and we have been looking for private rent for so long but it never gets past application with no feedback and when I call estate agents all I ever got was "apply online, we can't do it over the phone" or they're too busy to talk, I'm talking about multiple agents.

Also seems that most are selling their house instead of renting and we aren't in the position to buy.

So it's come to the time to try apply for social housing through our council, online application kept cutting me off half way through and sending half of the application because the automated system says we aren't eligible due to ethnicity (we are both from the EU and their policy states they dont discriminate against sex, nationality, ethnicity or anything so whats up with that), but then someone reviews it, sends it back to be as incomplete and tells me to finish it, I can't finish it when the automated system keeps cutting me.

Anyway I have a signed letter from our landlord saying our lease is ending, he isn't extending it because he wants to sell, I'm going to the neighbourhood office to see if they can help us. And I'm so nervous that ive decided to walk the whole hour there, my heart is pounding and I'm sweating, I've never imagined myself asking for help, it's hard to accept, but it needs to be done so my babies have a home. Idk why I'm posting this, writing is my therapy 😅
