What would you indicate a “bad parent”

Question

I know people have different meanings…. Just want to know your point of view 
Is a tired mom yelling at her child who is fighting their sleep considered a bad mom?
Child 18 month 
With a 1 month old 
So tired, depressed and I feel bad. Child isn’t sleeping and I yelled at him for fighting me while I rocked him to sleep in my arms. I’m so tired & I know I shouldn’t be yelling at him. I feel like a failure at being a mom..
It’s always at night when I’m so exhausted I find myself yelling at him 
What can I do to change this, please help I’m miserable

I feel like a bad mom every damn day. I started listening to some parenting books to help me not freak out when I’m overstimulated and just chronically tired. Doesn’t work all the time. 
You are not a bad mom. I’m listening to “how to stop losing your shit with your kids” and the author says that she doesn’t believe there is such a thing as a bad mom because that doesn’t help anyone. There’s just moms who don’t have the proper tools needed to be the best moms. 
I do believe that objectively bad moms exist. But they’re not the moms that yell when they’re overwhelmed and exhausted.

My mom left at 11 months old to go get “clean”. She said she will be back. I mean, it’s been almost 28 years but ya know. She be back. 
You are still around, you are doing your best. And that’s a good mum.

You're not alone and not a bad mum! I've shouted at my daughter in the dark before after the millionth wake up and most of my friends have shared similar frustrations they have done too. I'm not proud that it has happened but beating ourselves up doesn't help, we just need to try harder next time!! Sending hugs ❤️

Next time you feel yourself getting frustrated with him for fighting sleep, set him down, take a deep breath and say out loud "I'm getting frustrated with this process right now. I'm going to step away for 15 minutes and we will try again calmly". 
Babies feed off of our emotions and he's likely fighting sleep because you're agitated and it becomes a vicious cycle. I had to learn that it's not the end of the world if we stay up an extra 15 or 30 minutes to give us a calm sleep routine. Baby doesn't go down to sleep when I'm ready for him to, he goes down when he's ready and in a calm environment.

I don't think you're a bad mom I think you're wrongly directing your frustrations. Do whatever you have to to have in the front of your mind at bedtime that your baby is just a baby. They cant peacefully go to sleep when mom is yelling at them And you can't peacefully go to sleep knowing you were yelling at them as the were falling asleep. Do whatever you have to do to hold it together and when baby is finally asleep you can go in another room and let out your frustrations in a healthy way that won't affect anyone else. You need a new outlet.
