does gpa affect employment ?

so i finally got an offer for a job i’ve been waiting for for months, as part of the onboarding process i had to provide either a picture of my diploma or my high school transcripts, since i’m still waiting for my diploma in the mail i sent over my transcripts instead. when i did this i wrote a note along with my transcripts explaining my low gpa because i didn’t want it to reflect on me poorly as a person, when i switched to online school in 2019/2020, i struggled a lot and so did my grades. they definitely don’t reflect me as a student as i did amazing on my state tests as well as got good grades my freshman and beginning of sophomore year while i was in person. even my online teachers told me i do A+ worthy work when i actually hand it in. but when i went online i was also working two jobs/ 7 days a week just to support myself (i was moved out at 16) so i did struggle with a work/life balance, i definitely learned a great lesson and apply myself differently moving forward. i’m scared this will now mess up my chances with this job as she hasn’t messaged me back since. i honestly just want to cry
