Was my address used for a scam?

A shipping company knocked at my door earlier today saying they're here to pick up a parcel, I had no idea what they were talking about and they showed me the paper, pick up from my address in the UK for shipment to somewhere in the US.

Again, no idea, there was no names on the paper or anything, man goes "are you 100% sure you're not sending a package to the US?" I said "pretty sure I would remember" and that's all, he apologised and left.

That was so weird, right house number, street, city, post code, everything! But no name.

Was my address used as part of a scam?

No I didn't think the shipping company was trying to scam, I was wondering if my address was used for one, like a buyer needed to arrange pickup from a seller, got given the wrong address kind of thing
