How common are preterm babies?

I am 17 weeks and the internet is making me nervous lol. I keep seeing videos of women having their babies as early as 24/25 weeks and it’s getting me all worked up for no reason lol. I haven’t had a single complication or scare during my pregnancy, but does that mean anything in terms of having a super preterm baby? Are premies typically in high risk pregnancies? This is my first so I’m just trying to find a peace of mind

They aren’t common. 
You have some kind of medical problem for it to happen. So yes, you’d be high risk.  
For instance, I have a very short and weak cervix. I have preterm babies. Without medical intervention, I’d have my babies between 16-20w. There are different severities of incompetent cervixes, and mine is very severe. And with medical intervention, I kept my last babe in until 35w. 
There is 0 reason to be concerned or worry about it unless you’ve had complications.

So once you click on one video like that more and more will continue to pop up in your feeds. It’s really not that common. Certainly not if your doctor hasn’t given you any indication you would be at higher risk of that happening. When it does happen it’s typically not a total surprise.

I’m high risk with my boy and was with my daughter and she was born at 39+5 and I’m 20+3 with no risk of preterm labor
